Dartmouth’s undergraduate admissions process is separate and independent from Dartmouth Precollege programs. Participation in Dartmouth Precollege programs does not affect your admissibility for Dartmouth Undergraduate Admissions.  For information regarding Dartmouth Undergraduate Admissions, please visit admissions.dartmouth.edu

If you choose to include your Dartmouth Precollege experience in any college application, we encourage you to consider reflecting on your experience with Dartmouth Precollege, and how you felt you learned, grew, and developed your talents and curiosity during your time with us.

Applicants from families of Dartmouth alums do not receive any preferential treatment in the application process.

  • Dartmouth Precollege Summer Scholars:
    • This program is open to rising 10th, 11th, and 12th graders who are 15-18 years old at the time of the program. Students must have completed 9th grade and not graduated from high school. We offer on-campus residential, commuter, and hybrid options for U.S., international, and homeschooled students.
  • Dartmouth Precollege Online:
    • These courses are designed for high school or U.S.-high-school-equivalent students, including those who are taking a “gap year” between high school and college. Students should be between 13 and 19 years old, not yet enrolled in college, and no more than 1 year post-high school graduation (“gap year”).
    • These courses are not intended for college students or adults.
    • We are unable to accept students under 13 years of age.
    • U.S., international, and homeschooled students are welcome to apply.

All students who successfully complete a Dartmouth Precollege course—including Summer Scholars, Leadership Institute, and Online courses—will receive a Dartmouth-branded certificate of completion. Certificates will be emailed to participants after the program concludes: at the end of your coursework for online courses, and after all summer sessions for Summer Scholars and Leadership Institute courses (typically around August or September).
